In case you’ve only seen people shrieking that Democrats BLOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE CORONAVIRUS RELIEF BILL!!!!!!!!!!….. that’s because it was a bill that gave all the money to a few big corporations and would only give taxpayers a one-time check of as little as $600 for the entire indefinite pandemic and nothing at all to people with no taxable income.
It also excluded all families receiving welfare or snap benefits, despite the fact that millions of them are working families, often with disabled household members or special needs children who depend on both their state assistance and job incomes to even stay fed. The stimulus bill that was proposed and shot down would have just sealed the doom of poor people.
It was literally that one-time check…piggybacked on a $500 BILLION slush fund, given directly to Steve Mnuchin (Trump’s head of the Treasury, who helped buy out and bankrupt both Sears and Kmart to make shareholders richer), who would then give it directly to Trump to use as he pleased, with no government oversight or control. 500 billion of taxpayer dollars.
